About Measure FP

Measure FP is a $93.3 million general obligation bond to rebuild Redondo Beach’s fire and police stations. It will appear on the November 5, 2024 ballot.

Why Do We Need a Public Safety Bond?

Much Has Changed Since the 50s

Redondo’s population has almost doubled and our fire and police departments are much bigger, yet they are housed in the same small, outdated, and dilapidated buildings.

The Stations are Old

Our fire and police stations date back to the 1950s, a time when Eisenhower was President and gas was 30 cents per gallon. Although the facilities and equipment have been well-maintained through the decades, they are outgrown and obsolete, and in dire need of replacement.

Changing Mission

In the 1950s, the principal mission of firefighters was to put out fires, but now over 90% of calls are for paramedic and life-saving actions. The technology in our fire and police stations has not kept up with this broadened mission and additional capabilities.

Response Times Must Be a Priority

Our fire and police need new and renovated facilities to ensure we maintain fast response times and excellent service.

Disaster Response Ready

Redondo fire and police stations are not built to current earthquake codes. These are our first responders, and we must provide them the ability to serve the public, unimpeded by damaged equipment and facilities.

Why Your Support Matters

This is our chance to ensure our public safety stations are built for the 21st Century.  In a time when there is a lot of competition for good fire and police officers, it is important that we can attract and recruit public safety officers to live and work in these facilities.  Waiting any longer to rebuild our stations jeopardizes community safety and will cost a lot more money in the future.
